The Blue Door Pub in the News (and blogs!) { 1 }
While we’re currently sweating away on renovating your future new favorite place to eat and drink in St. Paul, we’ve gotten some recent mentions in the newspaper and blog or two.
When Jeremy Woerner and Patrick McDonough took over the former Puerta Azul space, they decided to give a nod to their predecessor and name their place the Blue Door Pub (1811 Selby Av., St. Paul). (Puerta azul is Spanish for blue door).
The Caribbean menu is history. “We know a lot of people are going to miss those great black beans,” said Woerner. “We just don’t know how to cook them.”
Last week our friends at MNbeer.com wrote a nice little piece about our endeavor. They sparked a spirited debate about which is a better beer city, St. Paul or Minneapolis? We suggest any future discussion should take place over a pint or two at The Blue Door Pub!
Topix.com had a brief blog post about the Pioneer Press article that was written last week. While the comments might have gotten a little off track, there was a comment or two worrying about the safety of the neighborhood. We, can assure you, as well our friends and neighbors can, that Selby and Fairview Avenue is definitely a very safe area.
Last but not least, we were mentioned in a chowhound.com thread that was mourning the loss of Puerta Azul.
